FREE Author Talk: Native American and First Nation Figures and Sculpture

This new book by local historian, author and biographer, Fred Poyner, examines sculptors both old and new, and how the work of each one has presented Native Americans and First Nation figures found throughout the public sculpture of North America over the past 200 years.

The Issaquah Public Library will host a FREE author talk with historical details about the artworks by 50 sculptors throughout the United States and Canada, and how these artists have incorporated either traditional Native techniques, or European artistic styles to create figurative subjects in wood, stone, marble, bronze, and other materials. Includes interviews with 21 contemporary artists, Forward by PḰȺELWEȽTEN Charles W. Bloomfield, and Epigraph by Mary Porter Eagle Has Landed.

The Issaquah Library talk will be free to the public, on Satuday, October 5th, from 2:00-3:00pm.

The author thanks 4Culture of King county, which has provided support for the book with a 2023 Heritage Project Award. Additional support was made possible through the Washington State Arts Commission.

The Issaquah Public Library is located in the heart of Issaquah’s state designated Creative District.
