Ceremonial Kokanee Fry Release at Lake Sammamish State Park Boat Launch

Ceremonial Kokanee Fry Release – Lake Sammamish State Park boat launch – Thursday, October 17, beginning at 4 pm.

Join with the Kokanee Work Group (KWG), Urban Wildlife Refuge Program UWRP), Trout Unlimited, the Snoqualmie Tribe, elected officials and other interested citizens at the annual kokanee release and special ceremony. This is an annual event celebrating the successes of the Kokanee Work Group and those who have supported efforts to restore native kokanee salmon in Lake Sammamish.

The event will include speeches by local elected officials, Snoqualmie Tribal Leaders and several KWG members. A member of the Snoqualmie Tribe will lead us in a blessing of the Kokanee fry. Snoqualmie Tribal leaders and elected officials will then release the fry into the lake from boats.

These fry are a result of a program to restore the native Kokanee population to healthy levels in Lake Sammamish.
