Closing Celebration and Artist Talk at Arts Sanctuary in Issaquah WA

Please join the community to celebrate the amazing season of creation we have all experienced at Arts Sanctuary. Artist-in-Residence Jancie King will give a talk and you’ll have a chance to meet the vibrant community that made this project a reality.

The Arts Sanctuary is located inside a large and unused portion of the Our Savior Lutheran Church at 745 Front Street South just outside the historic downtown Issaquah Creative District. Arts Sanctuary is a new collaboration between Issaquah Arts and the arts-loving leadership and congregation at Our Savior Lutheran Church.

Arts Sanctuary is a safe and welcoming space, inclusive of ALL people, locals and visitors.

About the Artist: Janice King

Janice King is a self-taught fiber artist who has long had a deep sense of place in the forests of the Pacific Northwest. Her work encompasses art quilting, textile collage and art knitting/crochet, combining new with rescued or repurposed materials. She strives to create art that educates from a base of naturalist knowledge and resonates with the emotional and spiritual dimensions of human life.

The “Trees of Memory Future” project draws viewers into new ways of thinking about our beloved Northwest trees and their potential futures in the face of climate change. Learn about the inspirations, materials, and techniques behind this large, multi-panel work as well as the creative experience of an artist residency. The reception is Friday, October 4, from 7pm-9pm at Arts Sanctuary.
