“Saturday Night is an Ivan Reitman-directed and co-written movie about the 90 minutes leading up to the very first episode of Saturday Night Live in 1975. It’s a madhouse, a glorious, hilarious madhouse with a game cast playing all of the original Not Ready for Prime Time Players as well as the behind-the-scenes players as well. However, this is truly a movie about producer Lorne Michaels’ (Gabriel LaBelle, outstanding) vision for a new type of comedy show that would change the face of television. And it did. Not a single misstep by an incredible cast. … As a comedy nerd and self-proclaimed SNL geek, I was in hog heaven. The manic atmosphere felt more like a thriller than a comedy because I was on the edge of my seat and chuckling throughout. This one is definitely going to be one of my top 3 movies of 2024, if not the decade: A+”

At 11:30pm on October 11th, 1975, a ferocious troupe of young comedians and writers changed television forever. Find out what happened behind the scenes in the 90 minutes leading up to the first broadcast of Saturday Night Live.
