What is “In the Round”?
“In the Round” comes from a tradition of bringing performers off the stage and into a more intimate space with the audience. At Happy Time, we will feature two (or more) songwriters who will share the stage and trade songs and stories with each other. And you – the audience – get to see it all happen as if it’s in your own living room.
About the space:
Happy Time’s workshop space will transform into a living room-style acoustic venue. There will be 20-25 chairs available, some floor pillows, and perhaps some standing room. Be prepared to sit right on the rug, or stand,and please offer chairs to the folks who need them the most. Expect the showcase to last a little over an hour.
Tickets: For this special showcase, we are offering 25 tickets. The vast majority of ticket sales go to the performers. You are invited to choose your ticket price based on what you are able to contribute, using one of the links below:
About the Artists
ALICIA HEALEY: Alicia Healey is a powerful vocalist, songwriter, producer and studio owner in Seattle, WA. She learned to sing from Barbara Streisand, Dolly Parton, Carly Simon, and Olivia Newton-John and learned to write from Patty Griffin, Gretchen Peters, John Prine, and Cat Stevens. From country to pop/rock and back again, her style of alt-folk is led by her smooth vocals and engaging guitar. She is a storyteller who taps into the significance of insignificant moments.
CARLY ANN CALBERO: Carly Ann Calbero built her sound on Brandi Carlile, Pike Place Market, and the immersive music scene of the Pacific Northwest. Her powerhouse vocals and dynamic playing led to a spot in a national ad campaign for M&M’s, a final spot in Rolling Stone Magazine’s Street-To-Stage competition, and a headlining spot as the winner of NWMF’s Emerging Artist program. Her voice, once described as a “freight train,” coupled with her confident guitar, sends the listener on a journey you’ll remember.
SOPHIE WHEATON: Seattle-based artist Sophie Wheaton’s music blends delicate melodies with introspective and evocative lyricism. Inspired by 90s acts such as Elliott Smith, Mazzy Star, and Fiona Apple, Sophie creates a soundscape that resonates with listeners, offering a poignant reflection on love, loss, and self-discovery.
